Criminal Record

Hi everyone,

I've got a kind of specific question.
I am from the EU. But have a misdemeanor on my record in the USA (California). My son is born in Brazil, so has a Brazilian pasport. Which means I have right to Permanent Residency. I did indeed have PR, but it expired because I was not able to visit for the last bi-annual visit to Brazil.

Soon my conviction will be expunged.

I want to fly into Brazil, and in the country, apply for the PR based on my child's Brazilian nationality.

Would this be possible?

I remember when applying for PR before in Brazil, they did not ask about criminal background. In fact, they hardly asked for any information, because of their law/mentality that you cannot seperate parent & child, and so, parent should get PR to be able to stay in Brazil with child.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this?

I don't have a criminal record in my country in the EU. So if I need to provide a record from country of residence, it would show up clean.

What about arriving at the airport with expunged misdemeanor? (While traveling with Brazilian child)

Thanks in advance!
Emma
