Easiest way to obtain residency

I am not interested in being employed in Brasil, but I have purchased and renovated an apartment in Florianópolis. I am looking for the simplest way to become a resident so that I do not have to worry about over staying, and I hope to be in Brasil full-time once I retire. Any tips, or referrals for legal assistance would be greatly appreciated.
