Family friendly towns in BC

Hi all,
My husband and I are in the first stages of researching a relacation to Canada. We think maybe British Columbia would be the right district but haven't a clue about the towns in it. We have four children ages 12,10,9 and 7 (all boys) and so really need a town which is full of sporting activities and clubs (especially cricket) as well as good schools. My husband works in post secondary education so a nearby college would also be an asset. I suppose what we really want is a place where we feel that we can become part of the community. I would be greatful for any advice as we are planning a trip to see BC for ourselves in a few weeks. Also any information that I could pass on to the boys to encourage them about the whole idea. Thanks for your time.
