Moving to canada with new born baby

My wife and I have a permanent resident card and necessary visa in passport to move to Canada immediately. Since getting the card/documentation however (we were officially landed when we went on holiday having applied for residencial status via the skilled worker route) we have had a child - born in UK. He does not have a right of permanent residenc in Canada therefore - only British passport. Can anyone advise how I may find out how the port officials (at Vancouver airport) will view all three of us turning up on a one way ticket. We are advised that it 'should be ok' and that we should immediately sponsor son when in Canada. Obvious concern is that, they could, if they wanted, refuse entry to county for our son - which would leave us in a bit of a predicament to say the least! Any comments - addresses/e-mail addreses for officials at Vancouver would be helpful. (I have tried London embassy - they simply say we 'should' be ok - this doesn't giveme the 100% assurance I would like before selling house/giving up job/packing up things and shipping to Canada etc - getting refused entry would be a nightmare!!)
