Theolog -- It depends on where you want to live. In the rural areas you might just get by on that, but as a rule it is quite expensive. In Santiago you will spend anywhere from $700 a month on up for an apartment. The medical facilities are wonderful here, they have many good private clinics. Housekeeping help is affordable and food prices are about the same as in the states if you buy local brands. Hope this helps. Jane
