Dependent Visa to Work Contract Visa

Hi ,
I came to Chile on Dependent Visa and near to completion of 2 years i applied for the permanent residency visa. During this time i got a job opportunity but the employer says that i cant be granted work contract visa as my PR visa is in progress and it can't be changed to work contract !
Can someone help me with this Query ? Is it possible to obtain the work contract visa from employer while PR visa is in progress and visa i came to Chile was dependent .
Any additional thoughts and suggestions are highly appreciated.
