Security in Rural Coastal Areas?

Hello. I am considering moving to rural Chile, perhaps near to the coast (so I can walk by the ocean). I am told there is not much violent crime outside of Santiago, but that there can still be break-ins. That is an issue for me, because I use a home video studio for my work. It isn't a huge amount of gear, but it is expensive, and if I had to replace my cameras and gear it would be a real setback.

How is it possible to secure one's things? Are there alarm companies that serve the coastal areas? And are they reliable?

I am not sure where I am going yet, but right now I am thinking maybe the Constitucion or Concepcion areas. My thought is to pack my video gear with my pallets. Then I could fly to Santiago and take care of the paper work with the state. Then I could buy a used vehicle and drive south until the scenery looks right, and look for a place to rent. If there is no security system I could have one put in (although I might end up with a contract??). And then when my pallets arrive I can set my studio back up, and not have to worry if I am gone for a day.

Does that plan sound workable? Or are there issues? I would appreciate hearing any comments or helpful advice. Thank you.
