Where to find Houses For Sale

I am interested in relocating to Chile in the next year or two. My intention would be to eventually buy a house there. I would pay cash. I have a couple of different options.

I could keep a home I own in California. In that case, I would be able to afford about $100K. If I sold my California home, I could afford about $250K.

I am a single man and would have an early retirement income of about $2100/month before taxes. I would buy a used car.

I decided Chile would be a good place to live because I read that it has a climate with low humidity, similar to Northern California. I hate heat and humidity. One area that intrigues me is Valparaiso. Pucon also looks quite interesting.

I don't want to live in an apartment. I looked on Realtor.com and saw some places for about $250-300K in Valparaiso that looked decent, but not really way better than what I can get in my part of California for similar money. My assumption is that realtor.com is the gringo way to search for real estate.

How would you go about searching for a property remotely?

I am putting this plan together and I have a lot of information to gather before I start to move in this direction.

Another question is, how difficult is it to sell a house in Chile, if I ever decide to move.

And, yet another question, how active is the expat community in Valparaiso or Santiago?
