Haven't contacted anyone recently. I would like to have current information on the process of obtaining a Pensionada visa. I am retiring from my work here in the US next February, 2013 and am wanting to permanently move to Medellin, Colombia.
I have much conflicting information and would like to talk to someone who went through the process no later than Nov., 2011 as I am given to understand the process changes frequently.
I have questions as to banking as I understand that a foreigner must live in Colombia 6 months before they are even considered to open a banking account.
I am also concerned in renting as I read that foreigners are way overcharged (in comparison to their Colombian counterparts) and often must pay a 6 month in advance rental fee while Colombians are only charged 3 months.
Any information is welcome as I am leaving in less than a year.
