Teaching English

Looking to move to Columbia soon, naturally teaching English would be my starting point. I have identified Medellin as the place I would want to live. Didn't know if I should go ahead and get this TEFL certification (I have a bachelors degree from U.S. University) and speak Spanish very well. Any input on the topic would be appreciated. Are Jobs hard to come by? I have heard horror stories from people teaching English abroad before, specifically in Asia. How would the salaries compare to standard of living for someone not trying to live lavishly. Staying with a host family vs apartment. Do most of these jobs teaching English entail teaching families or at a university etc. Any input is greatly appreciated. I am a 27 year old male and am very serious in my intentions of moving to Colombia.
