Ok, this is a wide open topic but I am serious to know more about Colombia food. Let me set the stage: I am a native Texan, for those not familiar Texas is a large state in the Southern USA know for foods of beef, pork, fowl, vegetables, potatos, corn and seafood. Because of Texans very mixed heritage there is a quite varied interest in food but the general tendencies are spicy and savory.
Because of this I find Colombian food very fresh tasting and earthy but bland. Secondly the amount of salt in soups was a bit shocking to me but I have obviously have not eaten that many different recipes yet.
I am what we call a 'foodie', someone who really loves food. I come from a long line of 'foodie' families. I grew up growing our own food to a great extent, parts of the family raised cattle, other farmed and of course cooking is something that men and women learn to do in my family.
So all that foundation laid, I would love to hear some recommendations of Colombian foods and or recipes to look for and try. I love to eat almost anything so do think it has to be something fancy or complicated. I especially want to hear about recipes or dishes in the Sta Marta, Barranquilla & Cartagena regions but any is appreciated.
