Off the beaten track a bit in El Poblado, Artisano Cocina Italiana is a terrific place for great food in an elegant setting. Not frequented by many expats (or tourists) due to its side-street location (Calle 10B N. 36-30), locals enjoy pizzas and innovative recipes served up in the most friendly and expert manner by Daeron or Juan. They would love to try out speaking English with you.
The restaurant reaches deep back from the street, with a beautiful outdoor patio rear most, with a wall waterfall and hanging ferns and tables surrounding a huge tree; main dining room tables sport fine table cloths and all dine with fine silk napkins, the tables decorated with enormous 'Mums (Hortensias).
Try the crab-stuffed ravioli, a number of excellent pastas, fabulous Tiramisu or Torta Chocolate Volcán.
