Moving Household Goods - by Air or Ocean Freight??

I have read some EE posts that illuminate some aspects of moving household goods to Colombia.

Here's another aspect I'd like to learn about; air freight vs. ocean freight.

Our situation will involve perhaps 500 to 1000 kg, (2 to 3 pallets of boxes). ie: LCL in transport-speak.

Please chime in with your experiences.

My research so far indicates:
1. air freight will cost about 3x more than ocean. T or F?

2.
A.for ocean freight the only possible ports would be Buenaventura and Cartagena. T or F?
B. followup Q, is one port or the other easier to work with RE: handling and customs.

3. for air freight, is there a "best" airport? In other words, shall we receive the goods in Medellin and truck it down to Pereira or Popayan, or simply have it flown the whole way?

Any helpful advice much appreciated!
