Considering living/ working in colombia

I am an Australian considering living and working in colombia (as well as learning spanish)

I am interested in knowing how well others have adjusted to the move (predominantly australians if possible but others are welcome to provide their thoughts). Specifically how it compares to australia and howeasy they found work. I am a qualified mechanical engineer in australia.
