Gay Couples Have Rights to Conyuge/Spouse Visa

In this aspect Colombia is ahead of some developed countries like the USA. Surprisingly in a very strong catholic state the rights of gay couples are recognized.

Although gay couples may not get married, their civil partnerships through union marital de hecho are recognized.

Once the requirements in the notary are met couples may use this as one of the requirements for the COLOMBIAN CONYUGE VISA.

Just a note whether your gay or straight requirements vary between cities and notaries. Medellin will certify relationships with as little as a couple months. Dont give up if one notary says no, go to the next, or go to another city if you need to.

For more updates on immigration policies in Colombia and the USA you may send me a private message or follow www.colombiavisas.com

The conyuge visa qualifies for permanent residency after 3 years. You must apply for the permanent residency and be living in COlombia a majority of the 3 years though.
