Things to I learned from my laundry lady

First off, my condolences to the Watson family and the senseless death of their son here in Colombia.

I have lived in Armenia for over a year and have used many services. However, the one that has actually made me smirk the most is dealing with my laundry lady.

Here is her logic. If you don't review the laundry that is your fault. If you give me a box or bag of detergent, I will use it to help others and myself. I will not really clean the clothes as you are a gringo and can afford to pay the clothes to be washed again. If i charge you every time more per load, I will tell you that I needed to wash the clothes twice (not really but this is how I can charge you more).

If you give me money in advance, I will consider this a gift (de corazon) and will never pay you back. If you insist in making it a loan, you are a typical gringo with no faith and love for Colombia.

Since this posting, I have purchased a washing machine but sometimes, I do miss her odd logic and waiting to see what is behind that door like - Let's make a deal.

On a serious note, Colombia still is fun and awe inspiring. But I can not forget that this is a place with many happy and sad endings. Crime is everywhere and not just Colombia but it is magnified when a foreigner is brutally attacked for insane reasons.
