Residente Visa Rewal

In 2015 I was issued a renewed visa de residente with a vijencia of 5 years.. At some point later the ministerio changed the visa to "Indefinida:. All well and good.. Recently the Ministerio changed the rules and those visas expire 22 Octubre. I think as as result of this stupid change there has been a run on Migracion offices around Colombia with a whole lot of "inconvenientes" .because peoples' visas are running out. For example in some Migracion offices citas are virtually unavailable. A cita is required to receive an "Historia Migratoria" report, a critical requirement for visa renewal You may have to travel to another city to get it. In addition, as mentioned in another post Migracion Colombia is currently experiencing all kinds of issues,

I have read numerous posts in the the past with people referencing the need to use a lawyer to get their Resident visa. I don't get this and I suspect they're spending a lot of money. unnessaraily. Within a block or two of all the Migracion Colombia sedes everywhere in Colombia you will find a local with a tramitador. These people are experts in expediting the visa process for foreigners. For example I have just completed mine. The tramitador took care of every thing regarding the visa even including getting me the cita with Migracion for the new cedula. Total cost for this service:$390.00. Is that what you pay the lawyers?
