Ok, here's the deal. I just completed my first job on Colombia, a two month contract teaching English at a local university here in Cali. They told me, since I am independent contractor, I am responsible for paying my own social security ( planilla ). Fine. Now that the job is over, I tried to go to the Pago Simple web site to pay and find out I have to register for an ARL, which is a sort of risk insurance associated with the job. I have spent the last three days trying to obtain this and have run into all kinds of complicated road blocks. I have to get this ARL do I can pay the planilla. I am due 7,500,000 pesos that hang in the balance! Had anyone else's run into this problem,? If so can you offer some advice?
