SURA has applied to the Superintendencia de Salud, to close down it's EPS system, citing non payment, by the Government. The Superindencia in turn has refused the request as that would leave between 5-6 million patients without access to healthcare.
SURA has replied that they will give the Government reasonable time to make other arrangements.
SURA have sent out an email to it's Patients, stating their intention is to force the Government to pay up, they will then continue the service, this seems a bit stupid, as the Superintendencia will have seen that email, and are likely to call their bluff.
We wait to see the outcome of this dance, as it stands, certain procedures and treatments will no longer be available, but they are not announcing what they are referring to.
