Interesting mishap happened to a friend of mine flying from BOG to MAD on Thursday two days ago.
The Iberia flight was supposed to leave about 6 p.m but in the event did not take off till after nine.
The reason for the delay as given by Iberia was that the flight crew got stuck in traffic and could not get from their hotel to El Dorado.
My friend like perhaps half the passengers, missed a connection because of late arrival at MAD, and she was not helped by putrid customer service from the Iberia Conexiones office at Barajas Airport. Two hours standing in line....
I think the Iberia excuse (got stuck in traffic) is woefully lame. Imagine if a passenger arrived at check-in three hours late and said he got stuck in traffic.
I don't know what Iberia's obligations under EU law are, but I hope the affected passengers go after the airline.
