This has been discussed before but I’m looking for current information. I’ll be visiting Cartagena in January and will likely need some pesos. My bank in Canada RBC is offering 2770 pesos per Canadian dollar. That seems terrible. Can I do better using an ATM in Colombia? I feel that I should have some cash when I go for tips at the airport and hotel at least, so should I just get a small amount from RBC and get more when I’m in Colombia?
I’ve seen suggestions to decline the rate offered at the ATM. If I do that, will I get the RBC rate or something better?
I recall elexpatriado recommending a Wealthsimple cash card, but then he said he’d been having problems lately? I signed up for the cash card but they only gave me a virtual card. I’m not sure if a physical one will be coming but it could be held up by the Canada Post strike.
Any advice on the best way for me to get Colombian pesos?
