Well.after 12 years of being on Medicina Prepagada , which I enrolled in with just a passport, and only being on EPS a few months during all this time and often being without a visa / cedula during this period, I recieved a cryptic email from some joker at my prepagada provider requesting a certificate from.my EPS provider. Very strange after 12 years.
Well no problem I can go on EPS and pay the minimum like everyone else, except for 2 issues.
1. I dont like the idea of spending a couple thousand dolars ( for all the requisites and documents) and spending 3 months of for a crappy 1 year Rentista visa every year , and the way things are going, the EPS provider would cut me off without a valid, cedula, like the one SURA agent did previously ( albeit 6 months after expiry)
2. The way things are going , who knows when Migraciones will pass information on bank accounts and financial infirmation of expats on to.mini salud and they will come back ( through EPS,agents) and demand 5% of your stated income ? This would be beneficial.for the Colombian Government, Mini Salud , and EPS providers but a real bummer for us Expats
It appears they are starting to.put the squeeze on us with all the rules and regulations, not so.much with DIAN, because of the complexity of the CRS system and Colombia Tax Code, but more with the healthcare issues where there is a shortage of funds and is much lower " hanging fruit" than the tax revenue issue
