Dual citizenship

First post here! I just want to start by saying I understand this isn’t a legal forum. Just looking for advice. I’m a US Citizen married to a Colombian citizen. Both of us currently live in the US. What are my options for getting dual citizenship (Colombia/America) while we are currently living outside of Colombia? Is it even possible or do we need to establish residency in Colombia first? My wife is currently a permanent resident in the United States so long term travel is not an option until we get her us citizenship.
Any advice is appreciated.
