Interest Rates & Inflation?

I've been giving some thought to the rentista program in CR, which seems easiest done by depositing $60,000 in a CR bank and withdrawing the required $1000 per month in colones, but am wondering what the combined effects of interest rates and inflation might be on the principle. Unless I misread the figures it appears that the dollar is now worth about twice the amount in colones than it was ten years ago, which suggests a pretty high CR inflation rate especially given the dollar's decline in recent years against other foreign currency. My question is therefore whether a deposit in a CR bank will hold or increase its value, or whether it will decline (maybe sharply). Any thoughts or experiences?
