Ticos dislike all foreigners?

Wow I was reading the post about mail on this forum the other day and could not help but be put off the the accusation that Costa Rica is a "Nation" of petty thieves and how they dislike everyone!
I guess everyone has their own take on things so I just wanted to express my slant on the subject.
Ever since I came here to Costa Rica 12 years ago I have always felt that most Ticos might even have a little more respect for folks from the U.S. than I would have expected. By the way there are more Americans than those from the U.S.-North Americans would be more accurate. I always felt a little special in some ways--people would ask me what State I am from etc. I would say over the years as more Ticos travel etc. the mystique may not be as strong. So in my experience, and especially with the workers and neighbors we have gotten to know over the years, I feel nothing like the previous writer. I have done lots of travel over the last few years and must say --my wife (a Tica) and I always come home knowing Costa Rica is a pretty darn good place to be. Perfect?? Of course not but Costa Rica is my "home" in all senses of the word.
And I think we always need to be careful not to paint everything with such a wide brush--because if we would base our views on the most recent headlines or always base it on negativity I would say the U.S., in light of the recent shootings, may look like more than thieves! This is the problem with forums and news programs, the negativity always seems to be the focus and rise to the top.
Just like in life it is easy to look at the one negative while brushing past the 100 positives behind it!
Post Office--gosh it just popped into my head of the reputation the U.S. post office has gleaned over the years. Ever hear the term "going Postal"----again I am sure it takes most of us an effort to remember that there are thousands of wonderful men and woman doing this job that don't deserve to be part of that negative history!
My take on the post office here is that I never really us it. I SURE don't miss the tons of junk mail--Costa Rica is kind
of green that way I think, not a bunch of trees wasted just to throw in the trash. With emails and faxes etc. I don't find too much of a use for the Post Office. I do have a PO box and on a few occasions do get stuff but not much.
We have Fed Ex, UPS, Jet Box and other services that we can use for important things--just like I did in the U.S.
Anyway--being part of this forum I just wanted to give another view and even remind myself that the good always outweighs the bad, just seems that human nature tends to reverse that sometimes! I was thinking this the other day---what would the TV news be like if it focused on the GOOD that happened that day? Probably wouldn't go would it? But I am sure that we could fill much more time if we actually looked for people out there who did good that day and helped others.
