How much are monthly CAJA fees?

When considering moving to Costa Rica, this seems to one of the most asked questions.

I would just like to advise you to look VERY carefully at the date when the information was posted on the website that you have been reading to try and find the correct answer.

Sometimes, it isn't possible to update a previously written article and other times, it is just posted on the internet, then forgotten. It could also be that they 'copied ' or got their information from an out-of-date source.

ARCR used to offer very inexpensive 'group rates', but at this point in time, CAJA has not sanctioned another plan for new residents.

For those seeking residency as a Pensionado, based on a Pension of $1000.00 per month, the cost is approx $120 per month, for an individual/family.

Applying as a Rentista the cost is approx $220 per month, for an individual / family.

The final cost will be determined by the CAJA who bases it on a percentage your income.

By no means am I an expert nor am I affiliated with either ARCR or CAJA, but am passing on this information as I know it, since I have encountered too many people who have been very disappointed to find out that the cost is much higher than they had planned on.

Another point to remember, that everything is NOT covered!!!
