Mental Toughness and Critical Thinking

I understand that sometimes my responses may seem a bit blunt and maybe even harsh. The reason is I teach Mental Toughness with my partner Steve Siebold. Check out his national interviews on TV at www.steveontv.com

Steve was here in Costa Rica and I was fortunate enough to become a partner with Steve in training Fortune 500 sales teams. I can tell you that when we work with a sales team on Mental Toughness and Critical Thinking it can make people quite uncomfortable. So if you find some of what I say bothersome it would be best to ask why? I don't mean to bother anyone but I do believe in critical thinking and when you actually do that it can become uncomfortable if you find yourself stirring up your paradigms with new information.

Be prepared though when you watch Steve--you may not agree with his views on why people are fat and gun control!

Believe me in today's world critical thinking is becoming a rarity and without it our lives can be run on emotions and many times those emotions are not based on facts at all but subjective opinions. We work with some of the largest companies in the world and have helped billion dollar companies increases sales by hundreds of millions of dollars!

What does this have to do with Costa Rica you may ask? Plenty I can assure you. You can not possibly move to another country without seriously considering FACTS! Not some persons subjective opinion that is based on their sometimes very negative experiences.

If you notice I take my time to confront what I find is erroneous and downright nasty opinions about the people or country of Costa Rica. For example --today someone was selling their tours and then telling us they have nothing to sell us??? The statement was made to insinuate that others have ulterior motives here in the country who do sell for a living. Does that pass any type of critical thinking test?
Or how about the person who guides us to a web site telling us how bad crime is here compared to the US and in fact the site says the exact opposite--and yet they continue to tell people on this forum the same incorrect info--and I don't even think these people have been to Costa Rica and yet they feel they should advise anyone? Does that pass a critical thinking test?

I could certainly go on with recent examples but my point is this---I live here--have business and a Costa Rican family. Look at what I say and just see if what I try to communicate is based on facts or just plain emotion? I find it silly that people continue to bad mouth "salespeople" but yet they are looking to purchase a property in Costa Rica. Does that pass any critical thinking test? It will be a rare thing indeed for someone to find a place to buy here without utilizing a "salesperson"! Make sure you think critically on all aspects of your move and surely don't negate your dream based on someones invalid and incorrect opinion.
