Service animals and differences here on the Caribbean

One of the reasons I love the Caribbean side is it is laid back and still the real Costa Rica. I have not lived in every local in the country so my experience is not complete. But I must say that it has been on more than one occasion when people have cast aspersions about our side that are not accurate. It has been said no one likes this side! Actually I would bet that most who say that may have visited at best or just pass on bad info and have not even been here. My experience has been that even Ticos have an inaccurate picture of what it is like as it has been passed down over the years. I have Tico owners in our project and they LOVE it here and were surprised as heck as they have lived with bad info for a long time. It rains much less here in Siquirres than in many of the well marketed parts of the Pacific and never gets as hot either. As a matter of fact I was just at Playa Bonita on Sunday and my mother in law ran into her cousins and I guess they were in their 50's plus and this was their first time here--they were from La Virgin--at most maybe a 3 hour drive. Anyway on more than one occasion I have heard how spotty and iffy internet is in many places--NOT at my house. I hear about blackouts and no water--NOT at my house. Now I am reading about service dogs being a problem?? Not in our area! Dogs --especially service animals are part of the fabric of life here. Anyway--thought I would chime in and if it is so tough living in other parts of Costa Rica you should check out the Caribbean! And I also just read in the paper this morning about the highest murder rate being in the town of Limon--WRONG--that would be San Jose. Anyway we are 25 miles from the coast and Limon is not a town where we even shop--no need --Siquirres has 70k people, a new hospital and all the stores you need.
