1 year in Costa Rica..Advice

Hello,

I am new to this forum. My wife and I are in the beginning stages of planning a 1 year retirement trip. Not sure where to go yet, but Costa Rica is on the list. We are attempting to build our savings to a specific amount, sell out home, and then go to our destination where we can live for about a year and spend time living life instead of working all The time. We do have a 17 month old boy who will be 2 by the time this happens. Is there anyone out there thay has done this. We are not retirement age. I am 33 and my wife is 40. I am a little overwhelmed at the moment because I not sure where to start. I figured the first thing we need to do is pick a place, take a short vacation there and decide if it's the right place. We are not wealthy people. I want to go somewhere and live a less costly life, but not completely indigent. We would like to rent a house and live somewhere affordable and possibly live around 2k or less per month. Is this possible in Costa Rica?? I have heard both yes and no answers. I'm really just trying to get some good advice and possibly even meet someone that I could develop a relationship with so we could email or talk on the phone, so I could get come good advice on what to do. Maybe also a tour guide for when we visit. This has passed th dream phase and I am ready to save this year sell the house and do everything else I can to be out of the US by early 2016. Anyone out there have any simar experience??
