A sad midnight

While everybody is rejoicing and celebrating the New Year I have been posting a comment on Facebook that I'd rather not to.
We just treated our children (adults) and my son's girlfriend with a "luxury" vacation. They stayed with us, we took them to La Fortuna, we stayed 3 nights there in 2 different hotels, we paid for meals, car rental, etc....We also took them to different places!
We did it with love but I must say that it impacted our bank account.
Now, here is my problem:
Some of our relatives in Canada and in Portugal probably after watching the photos on Facebook are lining up to come here.
They don't even ask if they can come, they say that they are coming.
Based on our culture there, if someone comes to your house you are supposed to feed them whether it's a week or a month.
Also: one of the nephews mentioned that he wants for us to show him the country.
We don't have a car and even if he rents one we all know that we will have to eat in restaurants and stay in hotels.
At this time we don't want to make any more extra expenses because we also gave a financial gift to each of our children when we sold our house.
My son is coming back soon to finish his dental work that we enabled him to do.
I just left a comment on Facebook saying that if we allow all the people who are saying they want to visit us in Costa Rica to stay with us, we will change our small condo into a hotel.
I also mentioned the cost of life and how in the high season everything is more expensive and I reminded them how hard we worked all our lives and now it's the time for us to rest.
I asked them to remember that we are retired and to please not to put more burdens on us!
I said that we came here to rest not to go to and fro with everyone who comes by.
Conclusion: my son emailed me and he is not happy with my Post.
I love him to death but sometimes while we were dining out I couldn't understand why he would ask for a mojito, after mojito, after mojito knowing that we would pay the bill.
We already told them (our children) that we can't repeat this extravagance again!
I apologize to you all for bringing this private matter to the blog but what amazes me is that some of these people haven't been in our lives for many years!
I just wonder if any of you have been in a similar situation.
When I have something bothering me it interferes with my relationship with God because I can't get it out of my mind!
Don't we have the right to protect
ourselves from these people?
This is how I spent the New Year's Eve!-Sorry Friends!
