visiting late Feb/March...

Hi Folks,

I am planning a trip to CR in late Feb or March to recon my probable move to CR later this year. I am thinking of using Grecia area for base camp. I will be in foot/bus travel mode and would like to visit the Pacific coast as well. If anyone has ideas for a week+ stay on a shoe string budget I would be grateful for your input.

My search of "Visa Costa Rica" came up showing there is no Visa requirement for a visit, so long as I have return flight. Please advise if this is not correct.

I am a single male, age 27 forever (actual age = 66, the word "old" left my vocabulary at age 27...), I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, metal detecting. I may bring my metal detector, any input on detecting in CR?

I have read that the South zone on the Pacific is home to many expat chef's and good dining. Is this the case? Any ideas on low cost lodging for a couple days visit? How far is it to the Pacific Coast from Grecia area?

I am truly excited about my visit and my planned move. Keep shining... Tom
