Correspond w/ expat in Central VAlley?

I am hoping to correspond with an expat who lives in the central valley. My husband and I are planning (Covid permitting) on spending several months in the fall and then, hopefully, returning home (North Carolina), winding up our affairs, and moving. You can only do so much research online and we have many questions. We are looking at Excazu, San Ramon possibly Santa Ana but are open to just about any town, at least for our visit,
