Making the move

Hi all. New here. I'm 61, my wife is 58. We are looking to make the move from the states to CR in the next 11/2-2 yrs as we are becoming empty nesters.
We will be applying for retiree residency. Me wife collects $1100 monthly from SS (which is perfect from what I've researched. That qualifies us for that category, and also the cheaper Caja rate). We're looking to rent, preferably a 2 bedroom so guests/kids can visit. MUST be near the beach. (Can't see moving to paradise and not being near the beach. Just my opinion, not judging). Would either buy or import a car (to be determined later with more research). My all in number is $3000/month.
We've been to CR twice this year (our first time). First time Manuel Antonio. Lovely area but a bit touristy and too far from the airport. Second time Playa Flamingo area. Loved it and only an hour from LIR. So we will concentrate on that area. Any input / opinions would be appreciated.
