Maybe...just maybe...this is "why".

Ecuador's foreign policies have been repeatedly called into question via the Western media and even on this forum. Usually, the tactic taken is to link Correa and Chavez. While I, personally, have very disparate views of Correa and Chavez, perhaps this is why both have come out in strong opposition to recognizing the Honduran military junta...and why both have requested the return of the duly elected Zelaya Presidency. Partial excerpt below...with full attirbution listed (English, this time - lol):

Soldiers raid Honduran media outlets

AP – By MARK STEVENSON, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 19 mins ago
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Honduras' coup-installed government silenced two key dissident broadcasters on Monday just hours after it suspended civil liberties to prevent an uprising by backers of ousted President Manuel Zelaya.

Dozens of soldiers raided the offices of Radio Globo. Officials also shut down Channel 36 television station, leaving it broadcasting only a test pattern.

I guess lack of respect for civil liberties and freedom of the press is not the sole domain of "crazies on the left"..."the crazies on the right" have a fully vested interest in such activity as well. Where is the righteous indignation, now? I can't help but wonder what the U.S. and Western Press response would be, if it were Correa knocking down the door of TeleAmazonas? Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
