One-Way Ticket and Volunteer Visa

Hello!
Sorry if this question is redundant, but I haven't been able to find any other related posts to this question. In a few days, I will be getting my volunteer visa (12V-II) back from the consulate. I'm trying to figure out the best way to buy my ticket. I have an internship with an org that could go until August 2010 or potentially longer. Does anyone know Ecuador's policies about entering the country with a one-way ticket, like if it's illegal? It makes the most sense for me to buy a one-way ticket now and to wait until I'd have a better idea about my return flight, especially to avoid having to pay fees for changing my return flight if I book a round trip now. Any thoughts? I've been to Ecuador before, but it's always been on tourist visas.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
