Internet service

I recently changed internet providers from FixNet to Porta's internet service, and the new service is great. Since moving to Ecuador, I have actually gone through 4 different providers of service. I started with Andinatels dialup service which was an expensive disaster. I then went with a DSL provider, Imbanet, out of Ibarra with a 128k connection. The service was reliable but too slow; downloads would time out before they would load. That provider was bought out by FixNet in August; the price went down to $115 a month, but the speed did not improve. Last week, I purchased Porta's new business service and am totally satisfied. It is a wireless service that utilizes the Porta cell phone towers. It is fast, and so far, very dependable. The service is around $75 a month. The only drawback is that one must sign an 18 month contract which was not a problem for me. I would recommend the service to anyone who gets a good Porta cell phone signal where they reside.
