Ec & Peru

My husband gave a young couple a ride yesterday from our local ski resort (Taos) and found himself in this conversation .....
The young man is American and the woman is an exchange college student from Peru. She worked at the ski resort last year ... they met... fell in love, etc. Anyway, they just returned from Peru and they were pretty adamant that there is huge friction on the borders between EC and Peru and were even saying that, in Peru, people are talking 'war'.
Anyone have anything to say on this?
