Dengue fever

Just read that they are starting to have identified cases on Dengue Fever in Guayaquil. Because of the high volume of rains expected on the coast this year, they are predicting a lot of cases. I don't much about the disease, but a friend contracted it in Belize and was told by her doctor that if you get over it the first time, the second time will kill you. People flying into Guayaquil might want to ensure that they have plenty of mosquito protection with them because the 'season' so to speak runs through April.
