buying wine

As I recall from our visit last year that red wine at the Supermaxi in Salinas was pretty expensive. I think it was as much if not more than I pay here in the US. Am I remembering that right. We are spending another month in October, and maybe do a little condo shopping :) I do enjoy a glass of nice wine with dinner. We bought by the glass in the restaurants as we travelled so I am not sure of the bottle prices outside of Salinas. I understand French might be out of the question but it seems like a good Chilean red should be inexpensive. Please help jar my memory, maybe I am off my rocker. But, if you know of a better place to buy wine in Salinas please advise.
