Vehicle puchase in EC

Do any of you have experience in purchasing used SUV's, pickups, in EC? As far as brands and gas/diesel power, would be very interested in anything you could tell me of your experiences. Some idea of price for decent vehicles, availability of same, insurance issues, and specifics and costs of obtaining a license. Thanks so much for any assistance. Just started posting here and excited about learning nuts and bolts of eventually relocating. Visited in early 90's, was thoroughly impressed, and anxious to check it out again.
