Opportunity for Music Teacher?

Hi Everyone,

I have an opportunity to take a year off from my current teaching assignment as a band director in an international school. My wife and I were considering living in Cuenca for a year and learning Spanish.

First off, is it possible to just move to Ecuador and buy a house/condo? What type of visa could I get?

Second, since we would have no income (we've saved up to do something like this)? Are there possibilities of teaching music lessons to earn a little cash?
