Import charges

I haven't seen any comments on the expense of importing personal items into Ecuador. For example, if I wanted to order several pounds of health supplements, how much might that cost for import duty? Or to buy personal items, whether books or linens or small appliances and have them shipped from the US? I'm wondering what percentage of value is charged. Postage extra, of course. Is this issue addressed somewhere? Thanks for any information.
