I will be graduating from the University of Minnesota in May with a major in Accounting and plan on moving to Quito in September to live with my Ecuadorian fiance. I am planning on living there long enough to get my residency and plan on looking for a job. I studied abroad in Guayaquil in 2008 and have been to Ecuador a number of times and am fairly fluent in spanish.
Has anyone gone through the residency process after marrying in Ecuador that could give me some advice? Do I need to get a visa before I go there or can I just change the status of my 90 day tourist visa? Are there any requirements as far as days I need to spend in the country before marrying?
What is the job market currently like in Quito and how difficult would it be to find an accounting or finance job? I am planning to apply with some international accounting firms as well as the US embassy.
Any advice or reccommendations would be appreciated. Also if anyone knows of any good spanish language schools or foundations to volunteer at since I will probably have a lot of free time in my first months there.
