Cysticercosis – OK, what else out there is going to terrify me?

cysticercosis, ascarids, other worms, maybe Chagas (I haven't heard of Chagas at all in Ecuador). I continued eating raw strawberries in Latin America even after learning about cysticercosis.

Can someone comment on the varying ills we may suffer and what we can do to protect ourselves. Who woudda thunk strawberries would be a problem?
