What floats your boat in and around Salinas?

I am the luckiest person in the world! I know this.

Retiring at age 49 in two months, a loving husband, two great college kids and a new adventure to Ecuador in October. Just one problem. What will I do all day?

I am sure this sounds a little spoiled, yes, but I am a doer and have now promised my husband I won't open a business, dive into a non-profit, write letters to the editor, (no matter how wise I think I am) or try to take over the world (my first and foremost mission in life). You know, the usual type A - MO stuff. Instead we are going to be retired people.

So what do you retired people in and around Salinas do with your time? Where do you hang out? What floats your boat? Where is your favorite place to shop? Who do hang out with? Do you and other ex-pats get together? Where is your favorite coffee stop in the mornings? Favorite restaurant and why?

We have spent some time in Salinas, and around Ecuador but I would love to hear this from the, pardon me, horses mouths.

Help me make the adjustment so that

1. My jaw doesn't lock with worry.
2. I can make my deserving husband the happiest man in Salinas.
3. I can show up laid back and cooking up a storm (one of the things I will not need to give up) which I would happily share with all who will join us.

Thanks in advance, Nancy
