Mail in Ecuador

I normally do not post on here, but thought I'd share a quick *funny* story.

For those of us living here for some time (me, only 3 years) this gets put on the "only in Ecuador!!" list:

My family sent me some mail, normal size/weight, regular envelope...should have had no problem being delivered to me here in Salinas. Mail of this type normally takes aprox 7 business days.

By the 15th business day, I went into the post office to check, nothing. I go back a few days later - finally, success!!

Why did it take so long, I wondered? I know this is "Ecuador", but jeez...

I got my answer when I saw a the big red stamp on the front of the envelope:

"Mis - sent to Osaka Intl". Yup!! My mail went to JAPAN before reaching me here.... And no - it was not sent there by Ecuador, rather than the good 'ole USPS....

Put a smile on my face - gotta love confusing "osaka" with "salinas"....of, course, I am saving the envelope for posterity!!
