United MISTAKES of America

Wow. At first, I thought it was a joke. Sorry, Poster, you're right. I've been semi - questionable about the place of America in this world, sometimes defending it, sometimes opposing this country. But, no longer!

I've blogged about differences, and where we stand on prosperity. But I've never written about where we stand as human beings against one another.

I listened to the confirmation hearings today of Ms. Elena Kagan for the U.S. Supreme Court. She seems like a nice lady who chided the Justices for voting 5-4 to give corporations "human rights." In other words, by their standards, a corporation has the same right of free speech as an individual, (that is, the right to spend any amount of money necessary to elect a candidate) as you, or I, or, a union.

I wanted to ask if this same provision applied to me giving money to Al Qaeda, but I couldn't get an answer.

Obviously, I have no desire to give to any organization that would wish to hurt our country, but by that same token, I may wish to include BP among a group that DOES NOT have America's best interests at heart. Yet, by a decree of the Court, it's protected.

Where now, do I, a dissident among many of you stand among the Supreme Court Justices?

Don't look for an answer anytime soon.
