Summer air travel w/ pets....

We're booked to travel from east coast US to Quito thru Miami in early September. Anyone ever put a dog in cargo during warm weather? AA is trying to define when they make the call about whether or not the pet can be loaded (has to be 85 or less out) Can't get them to answer re: if "it MAY get to be 85 or it IS 85 at point of checking in for flight. ' Any advice would be appreciated. The way snafus are going, it will be my luck that they ground the dog and our plans go up in smoke til it cools more. In which case, they should have advised when i bought the tickets. God I hate the arrogant airline! Please respond!
