Metal Detecting

No, I did not buy my detector in Ecuador. The person in Quito who contacted me stated that they did not know of any detector shop in Ecuador.
He mentioned he paid 7K for his set up brought from the US, and prospected without Ecuadorians. I wont get into the reasons on this forum but have to agree with his reasoning. I on the other hand will do as my friend who goes to Mexico does, hire a small kid(s) to do all the digging by letting them keep all the small change. I plan to focus on the beach areas until I learn how to use the thing.
I assume this endevor will attract alot of attention at the wrong time of day or weekends when the area is full of people. Which is why I asked in an earlier forum about the price of a made in china 4 wheeler ( maybe $1500?) but still dont have a response. I want to hold of on a high dollar wheeler (10-12K) until we locate full-time. I know where the brand name dealers are but cant locate the dealer where the Ecuadorians buy the cheap 4 wheelers.
If someone could give me the brand names I could find the dealer.
My detector (Tessoro Vaquero 2.2lbs & 1 9V battery instead of 8 AA's) is more for beaches and general purpose. When I retire full-time I will buy a specialized gold nugget detector, A high dollar 4 wheeler, and off for some adventure. I,ll bring along some of our local Alaskan smoked salmon in case I run into any Columbian banditos or Amazon head hunters as it is easy to make friends with this product.
