Spanish by CD

I have been studying Spanish by Pimsleur CDs. About half way through a 10 course program. With a few years of high school spanish from about a century or so ago it's coming back. Do any of you have experience using CDs to learn the language? My course says not to do anything but them. No other books and not writing anything down. Yet they say nothing about what is next. Anyway your thoughts on learning Spanish this way?
